About
Kevin Douglas and Inda Craig-Galván, collectively known as kevINda, have created a smart mix of racially-charged political satire. Their first revue as a sketch duo, These Coloreds Don’t Run, had its very first run in October 2003 in the Donny’s Skybox Theatre, closing on Inda’s 23rd birthday. (That part about Inda’s age was a damn lie, but you’d never know if she didn’t tell you.) It was the birthday, of sorts, for both Kevin and Inda. (Man, that was sappy.) They’ve continued showing off their baby — and their asses — at C’est La Vie Drama, the Black Arts Initiative at the HotHouse, and the Acme Arts Building for Wordplay. The Chicago Tribune called their show “noteworthy” and inspired” during its run at i.O. (formerly improvOlympic). Check out the kevINda press page for more reviews.
kevINda decided to check out the festival circuit, and have since rocked (we mean that modestly, of course) dccomedyfest! (twice), WORDSFest 2006, Chicago Improv Festival (twice), SketchFest Seattle, Toronto SketchFest, Chicago SketchFest, and most recently HBO US Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen.
Branching out as hired hands, they co-wrote Blaxploitation: The Remix for MPAACT theatre company. Blax had a great run (7 Black Theater Alliance Award Nominations) and was subsequently featured at Chicago’s summer Theater on the Lake. The sequel, Blaxploitation 2: You Know How We Deux, ran through February 2007 at Victory Gardens Greenhouse in Chicago (10 Black Theater Alliance Award Nominations; 4 Wins!).
kevINda. It’s a “W” joint! That’s “W” as in George. Because we don’t like him very much.
