South Side!
I was born and raised on the South Side of Chicago. I was thoroughly confused by Bill O’Reilly’s recent comparison of the South Side of Chicago to Haiti. I thought he was geographically ignorant, racist and disrespectful.
That was until I remembered living in the neighborhood of Beverly on Chicago’s South Side (median household income $73,104, average home price $299,000). And I remembered visiting friends who live in the neighborhoods of Hyde Park on Chicago’s South Side (median home price $239,500), South Shore on Chicago’s South Side (median home price $175,406), and Pill Hill on Chicago’s South Side (median home price $$160,183), just blocks away from the South Side of Chicago neighborhood where I grew up.
Then I realized that I had completely misunderstood what O’Reilly was trying to say in his simile.
Haiti has a lot of home owners in comfortable homes.
And Haiti has a huge South Side Irish Parade every year.
You are correct, sir.
