Mike Tyson to Fight Aftershocks in Haiti!
Okay, this is just as ridiculous as the hoax that American Airlines is flying nurses, doctors and EMTs to Haiti — for free — to aide with the disaster recovery. Well, maybe the twitter-generated, facebook-regurgitated airline story isn’t in itself all that far-fetched. But what is ridiculous… no, ridonkalous… is the fact that so many intelligent people are repeating this and other fake-stories as fact in a misguided attempt to “spread the word” and help the people of Haiti. Stop it! Stop it! Stop it!
American Airlines spokesman, Tim Smith, has refuted this dumb, useless prank. UPS has debunked the hoax that they’re shipping any package weighing less than 50 pounds to Haiti for free. And, I haven’t heard from Tyson’s people, since I just made that one up, but they’d probably say he isn’t going to fight and earthquake.
Think, people. Don’t repost, retweet, update your status or in any other way pass on these lies. You aren’t helping.
You wanna help? I know you do. Text HAITI to 90999 to give a $10 donation to the Red Cross. Text YELE to 501501 to donate $5. Charges will show up on your next cell phone bill.
And go to cnn.com/impact to get accurate information. And then spread that.
